Walnut Street Center General Fund
This fund provides support to many of the agency's services and also
helps defray the ever- increasing operating costs to run its residential,
day, employment, respite, family and individual support services.
Alzheimer's Residential and Day Support Services Fund
Gifts made to this fund will help to provide support services to
adults who have both a developmental disability and Alzheimer's disease.
Recent studies have confirmed that 100% of adults who have Down syndrome
will develop Alzheimer's disease at some point in their senior years.
Once these individuals develop Alzheimer's disease they require specialized
care.
The Walnut Street Center, Inc. has opened the Wylie Residential complex
in order to provide home to a number of developmentally disabled adults
who have also developed Alzheimer's disease. In addition, we have opened
a new day program with in the complex in order to meet the specialized
needs of its residents.
IT'S A GIFT! Store/Work Training Program Fund
Located at 29 A Union Square
The Walnut Street Center, Inc. assists developmentally disabled individuals
to obtain competitive employment in their community. We have developed
an innovative community- based training support that teaches competitive
job skills through an arts and crafts/ florist business operated by
the individuals and the agency. The IT"S A GIFT store sells flowers
and arts and crafts items produced by people who have developmental
disabilities. Workers in the store/work training program receive training
in sales, floral design, janitorial work, delivery services, arts and
crafts, production and cash register skills. All gifts made to this
fund will support this project.
