Employment Supports serves individuals who have a major
life goal of finding work for the purposes of increasing financial security,
personal fulfillment and meaningful participation in their community.
Employment Supports creates job opportunities for individuals by providing services to the community at large, including:
· Landscaping
· Light moving
· Bulk Mailing Projects
· IT'S A GIFT! Art Gallery in 29 A Union Square
In addition to these community services, individuals in Employment
Supports work for employers such as Best Buy, Borders Books, The Museum
of Science and the Department of Mental Retardation. Each individual
works with a job developer in order to find an appropriate "job
match" that considers their abilities and preferences for employment
within a community setting. When a "job match" is made, staff
support the individual to learn job responsibilities and to acclimate
to the work environment. Individuals also have the opportunity to work on a variety of employment-related issues such as interview preparation and resume development.
